itchy pug.

Sophie, my pride and joy, has been very itchy for several months.  The last two months seem to have been particularly bad for her, and she spends most of her time like this.

Her itchy parts seem to be her rear, haunches, legs, tail, and the side of her stomach.  Her skin can be really sensitive [...]

friday faves.

Now that it’s fall, really craving some fall boots, like these Arturo Chiangs.

I’ve been off the scrapbooking bandwagon for a little while, but Studio Calico’s kits make me want to hop right back on.

These designs in Anna Maria Horner’s new line are calling my name.

I don’t have a picture for this one, but I am [...]

10 things on 10.10.10

1.  My belly is full of apple crisp and cuban red beans & rice (and Leigh’s amazing olive and sun-dried tomato bread).
2.  Said apple crisp was made from 5 different kinds of apples, and it was extra delicious.
3.  Tonight I intend to read a couple more chapters in Half the Sky.
4.  Matt is almost finished [...]

hidden rainbow albondigas.

Yes, that is the name of the soup I made for dinner last night.  Doesn’t the name just make you happy?  The soup will make you happy too.
You can find the recipe from Cooking Light here.  Albondigas means “meatballs” in Spanish, and these have a hidden rainbow because there’s a ton of veggies but you [...]

3 years.

Three years ago today we lost my mom, Sandra, to esophageal cancer.  There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss her and wish she were here.
I took a little trip down memory lane this afternoon and looked at some old photos.  I sent several to my family for some laughs.
This one is [...]

i’ve got plans for you.

Today I stopped in to my favorite little sewing shop, The Top Stitch, to take advantage of their fall clearance sale.  What I took home was a nice little stack of goodies to make things for my nieces and my old supervisor’s new baby.

In the meantime, these flashy little pieces will be turned into an [...]

manzanitas.

A relatively new Halloran family tradition continued yesterday, as we went to Bishop Orchard in Garfield, WA for apple picking and cider making.  This is our 4th year and it seems we have the cider making down to a science.

Apples were kind of scarce this year.  Last October this region experienced unusual freezing temperatures, which [...]

a beautiful day.

Matt and I love the inland northwest for many, many reasons.  We got to experience two of those reasons today.  Glorious fall weather, and excellent, nearby outdoor recreational opportunities.  Today, we went for an 11 mile bike ride on the Fish Lake Trail – approximately 10 minutes from our house.

What a good day.
