my kind of valentine’s day.
my hometown (moscow, id) has produced some amazingly talented people, one of whom is josh ritter, a folk singer-songwriter who is getting a lot of praise for his most recent album so runs the world away. my fave song on this cd is an epic love song between an archeologist and a mummy, which has been beautifully captured in video by josh ritter’s drummer, liam hurley, who is also a puppeteer. one youtube commenter said it perfectly – i can’t believe puppets have reduced me to tears. my kind of valentine’s day song – moving, whimsical, unusual. you can watch the video below, although i realize it’s chopped in half and i don’t know how to fix it. might i suggest reading about it’s creation from npr and watching the video in hd by clicking here instead.
